On this day in 1933, St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Dizzy Dean struck out 17 in a 8-2 win over the Chicago Cubs.

On this day in 1948, Cleveland Indians pitcher Bob Lemon threw a no-hitter against the Detroit Tigers.

On this day in 1962, Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Sandy Koufax threw his first career no-hitter against the New York Mets.

On this day in 1978, Willie McCovey of the San Francisco Giants hit his 500th career homer.

On this day in 1995, Eddie Murray of the Cleveland Indians recorded his 3,000th career hit.  The hit made him just the second switch-hitter to reach the milestone.

On this day in 2004, Colorado Rockies outfielder Larry Walker collected his 2,000th career hit to become the first Canadian born player to ever reach the milestone.
