On this day in 1963, San Francisco Warriors center Wilt Chamberlain scored 70 points in a 163-148 loss to the Syracuse Nationals.  It was one of his six 70-plus point games in his great career.

On this day in 1987, Cleveland Cavaliers small forward Ron Harper set a franchise and NBA rookie record by getting 10 steals in a 100-91 Cavs loss to the Philadelphia 76ers.

MLB

On this day in 2010, the Arizona Diamondbacks and Justin Upton agreed to terms on a $51.25 million, six year contract, which was the second largest in franchise history behind Randy Johnson‘s $52.4 million deal in 1999.  The outfielder would go on to be traded to the Atlanta Braves in 2013, with the Braves trading him to the San Diego Padres following the 2014 season.  Upton would play for three different teams under this one contract.
