On this day in 1985, Denver Nuggets power forward Dan Issel moved past Elvin Hayes into fourth place on the all time pro basketball scoring list. Issel achieved the milestone my scoring 27 points in a 124-119 loss to the San Antonio Spurs. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain, and Julius Erving are the only other players ahead of Issel.

On this day in 1936, future Hall of Fame outfielder Joe DiMaggio makes his Yankee debut by collecting four hits, including a triple, in an 8-7 exhibition loss to the St. Louis Cardinals.
On this day in 2010, major league baseball suspended Seattle Mariners pitcher Cliff Lee for the first five games of the regular season after he threw a pitch over the head of Chris Synder in a Cactus Legue game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
