On this day in 2001, Chicago Cubs outfielder Sammy Sosa hit his 400th career home run.

On this day in 2004, Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Ben Sheets struck out 18 Atlanta Braves batters, becoming the 14th player to strike that many batters out in a nine-inning game.
