On this day in 1990, the Cincinnati Reds won their ninth consecutive game to start the season 9-0, beating the Braves 8-1.  The Reds would eventually win the World Series.

On this day in 2002, Atlanta Braves shortstop Rafael Furcal tied a major league record, by hitting three triples in a game.  The last major league player to achieve the feat was Lance Johnson in 1995.  Furcal also became the first Braves player to hit three triples in a game since 1956.

On this day in 2012, Chicago White Sox pitcher Philip Humber threw the 21st perfect game in major league history, leading Chicago to a 4-0 victory over the Seattle Mariners.

NBA

On this day in 1996, the Chicago Bulls beat the Washington Bullets 103-93 to finish the season 72-10, which is the best regular season record in NBA history.  The win gave the Bulls their 33rd road win, which is the most ever by an NBA team.
