Orioles Acquire Gerardo Parra from the Brewers

The Baltimore Orioles have acquired Gerardo Parra in exchange for right-handed pitcher Zach Davies, according to Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun. The deal is still pending medical reviews.

The 28-year-old Parra is having the best season of his career, hitting .328/.369/.517 with nine homers and 31 RBIs in 351 plate appearances. The two-time Gold Glove winner also has nine stolen bases this season. Parra is a very good defensive outfielder and he’ll remind a lot of Orioles fans of Nick Markakis in the outfield, as he doesn’t have the greatest range, but when the ball is hit is way he’s going to make the play. The one downside to the trade is that Parra will be a free agent following this season.

We ranked Davies as the Orioles sixth best prospect in the preseason. The 22-year-old is having his best season of his career in the minors, posting an ERA of 2.84 over 101 1/3 innings. He also adds a WHIP of 1.22 and 7.2 strikeouts per nine innings.
