Orioles Designate Travis Snider for Assignment

The Baltimore Orioles have designated Travis Snider for assignment, according to Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun. The teams also has recalled recently acquired Junior Lake from Triple-A Norfolk.

Snider, 27, hasn’t had much luck at the plate this season, hitting .237/.318/.341 with three homers and 20 RBIs in 236 plate appearances.  Snider was once a top 10 prospect and is one that never really live up to the hype.  There’s still time for him to have a success in the major leagues, but his time is may be running out.

Lake, 25, had just 16 plate appearances in Norfolk and collected four hits and four walks during that span.  The outfielder has seen 642 major league plate appearances and is hitting .241/.283/.380 with 16 home runs and 46 RBIs.
