Arizona has been Oregon’s Achilles’ heel the past two seasons, with the Wildcats winning the last two matches. Their secret has been their ability to throw off Marcus Mariota just enough to force a mistake or two.
Mariota is the Heisman favorite coming into the final week of the season, and will need a big game to wrap it up. Mariota has led one of the best offenses in the country. Oregon is averaging around 46 points per game, scoring 38 or more points in every game, but their loss to Arizona earlier this season. The Ducks scored 24 points in that game, losing 31-24. Mariota is the key for Oregon, if he makes just one mistake they could lose this game. The Oregon defense has statistically been good this season, but they’ve struggled to stop good offenses all year.
Arizona will rely on freshman quarterback Anu Solomon, who might be the best freshman in the Pac-12. Solomon has struggled in three games this season, with the Wildcats going 1-2 in those games.
The game will come down to who’s the better quarterback. I think Arizona will win this game, they’ve had Oregon number lately and that will continue.
