The San Diego Padres have acquired Marc Rzepczynski from the Cleveland Indians in exchange for Abraham Almonte, according to Keith Law. The deal has been confirmed by the teams.
The 29-year-old Rzepcynski has posted an ERA of 4.43 in 20 1/3 innings this season. The lefty has walked 4.4 batters per nine innings, which has been one of the main causes of his struggles this season.
Almonte, 26, is hitting a slash of .204/.271/.259 in 62 plate appearances this season. The switch-hitter has seen more time in Triple-A, hitting .275/.361/.414 with four homers and 35 RBIs in 282 plate appearances.
