Padres Fire Manager Bud Black

The San Diego Padres announced today that they’ve relieved manager Bud Black of his duties.  Triple-A El Paso manager Pat Murphy will serve as the team’s interim manager for the remainder of the season.

Black, 57, managed the Padres for nine seasons and posted a record of 649-713.  San Diego never made the playoff during Black tenure.  He led the team to two fifth place finishes, two fourth place, four third place and a second place finish.

San Diego is currently one game under .500 after the team went out and reshaped their entire lineup with big names like Justin Upton, Craig Kimbrel, Wil Myers and Matt Kemp.
