Phil Bickford’s Scouting Report
Bickford was considered a top prospect out of high school, going 10th overall to the Blue Jays in 2013. The righty did not sign with the team, but instead went to Cal State Fullerton for a year before transferring to Southern Nevada JC so he could be eligible for this year’s draft. Bickford features a powerful and consistent delivery with some effort. His stuff is reminisce of Mike Foltynewicz, with a hard fastball and some above average breaking stuff. Bickford has both a two-seam and a four-seam fastball with the two-seamer having plenty of movement on it. He looks like a #3 starter at the big league level with #2 starter potential.

Phil Bickford’s Best Fit
Bickford should go somewhere between 18th and 24th with the Oakland Athletics being the ideal fit. He should be the best player available when Oakland’s pick comes up at number 20. Bickford would also have the ability to come up through a farm system that currently needs pitching, with most of their top prospects making their major league debuts this season.
