The Philadelphia Phillies have designated Grady Sizemore for assignment and called up Cody Asche from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Sizemore, 32, has struggled to hit the ball and with injuries since 2009. He was once regarded as a future superstar when he played with the Cleveland Indians, making the All-Star team three straight years from 2006-2008. He also won two Gold Gloves. Sizemore has a career slash line of .265/.351/.458 with 144 homers. You have to think Sizemore’s career is coming to an end if he can make in Philadelphia.
Asche is expected to get most of the playing time in left field for the Phillies.
