The Philadelphia Phillies have called up top prospect Maikel Franco from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to start Friday night’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks at third base.
Franco, 22, was having a great season for Lehigh Valley, putting up an average of .355 with a .384 on-base percentage. Franco ranked 65th in our preseason prospect rankings.
This is the second time that Franco has been called up. Last time he struggled, hitting just .179 and striking out 13 times in 58 plate appearances.
