The Texas Rangers have designated outfielder Carlos Peguero for assignment, according to the team’s executive VP of communications John Blake. The move was done to make room for Phil Klein, who starts tonights game against the Boston Red Sox. Josh Hamilton should be ready for action soon and will take over Peguero’s outfield spot.
The 28-year-old was hitting .186 with four home runs in 70 at-bats this season, striking out 36 of those times.
