The Tampa Bay Rays have designated pitcher Preston Guilmet for assignment, according to Roger Mooney of the Tampa Tribune. The team has also activated John Jaso and added Steven Souza to the disabled list.
Guilmet, 27, posted a 5.06 ERA and a 1.313 WHIP in 5 1/3 innings. This is the third straight season in which he’s pitched 10 1/3 innings or less. Guilmet has a career ERA of 6.43 over 21 innings.
