Rays Trade Alexi Casilla to Tigers for Player to be Named Later

The Tampa Bay Rays have traded Alexi Casilla to the Detroit Tigers for a player to be named later, according to Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press.

The 30-year-old has not played in the majors this season, and it looks like Detroit made the move to provide depth up the middle. The switch hitter has a career slash line of .247/.302/.331 with 12 homers and 80 stolen bases in 1,893 plate appearances. He can play both second and short and has had a good season at Triple-A, hitting .315 in 142 plate appearances.
