The Tampa Bay Rays have traded outfielder David DeJesus to the Los Angeles Angles in exchange for right-handed pitcher Eduar Lopez.
The 35-year-old DeJesus is hitting .259/.323/.375 with five homers and 26 RBIs in 257 plate appearances this season. The lefty is great at hitting right-handed pitching and has a career slash of .285/.362/.441 when facing righties. The Angels will pay DeJesus his remaining $1.91 million salary. He also has a club option for 2016 with a $1 million buyout.
The Rays in return will receive a quality young arm in Lopez, who’s just 20-years-old. He has posted a 4.32 ERA in 33 1/3 innings in Rookie ball this season.
