The Boston Red Sox have acquired Ryan Cook from the Oakland Athletics, according to Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com. Oakland will receive a player to be named later, according to Alex Speier of WEEI.
The 30-year-old Cook has only pitched 4 1/3 innings at the big league level this season and gave up five earned runs during that stretch. The 2012 All-Star has spent most of the 2015 season in Triple-A Nashville and has put up a 4.05 ERA over 33 1/3 innings with a WHIP of 1.38.
