The Boston Red Sox have called up long awaited cuban outfielder Rusney Castillo. The team has option Jackie Bradley Jr. to Triple-A to make room for Castillo.
The 27-year-old has already spent time in the big leagues after signing a seven-year, $72.5 million deal in August of last year. He batted .333 in 40 plate appearances and added two homers and three stolen bases.
The promotion is a very interesting move since the team still has Shane Victorino and Daniel Nava on the bench. Victorino will be a free agent this offseason and will be very tough to trade. Boston has already optioned Allen Craig to Triple-A.
The Red Sox outfield now features Castillo along with Mookie Betts and Hanley Ramirez.
