The Cincinnati Reds have designated Jason Marquis for assignment. The team also selected the contract of Jon Moscot, who will start tonight’s game against the Padres.
Reds promoted RHP Jon Moscot (#46), disabled Iglesias (strained left oblique), recalled RHP Pedro Villarreal (#62), DFA’d Marquis.

Marquis, 36, has struggled this season posting a 6.46 ERA over 47 1/3 innings. The move isn’t surprising as the Reds set in fourth place in their division.
Moscow, 23, has been lights out in Triple-A Louisville, posting a 7-1 record with a 3.15 ERA.
The Reds have recalled Pedro Villarreal from Triple-A and have placed Raisel Iglesias on the disabled list.
