Arkansas and Bret Bielema got huge news on Friday when quarterback Ricky Town announced he would transfer to the university. Joe Schad of ESPN was the first to report the news.
Arkansas and Florida emerged as leaders for the USC transfer earlier in the week and both team had a need at the position. Town was originally committed to Alabama before flipping to USC. Now the former four-star QB will have his chance to play the Crimson Tide every season.
Town wanted to play in a pro-style offense and that is one of the main reasons for the transfer. He will have four years of eligibility after sitting out this season. This gives the Razorbacks their quarterback they were searching for, with this being Brandon Allen last season under center.
“If I was going to transfer, I wanted to do it immediately as to not lose two years of eligibility,” Town said to Schad. “I’m excited to compete and to help Arkansas win games. It’s a long journey.”
