Riley Pint’s Scouting Report
Pint has two plus pitches with his blazing fastball being one and his nasty knuckle-curve being the other. We already know that there’s plenty of hard throwing pitchers in this draft, but not many have the breaking stuff that Pint possess at such a young age. He’s got a repeatable delivery to go with a clean arm action and all the makings of a future major league ace. No high school right-hander has ever been picked first overall. Could Pint be the first?
Strengths
- Plus fastball
- Good movement on his 2-seamer
- Good size
- Tons of potential
Weaknesses
- Needs to improve his control
- Can rely on the fastball to much, needs to mix his pitches more
Pitches

Changeup: 84-86 MPH
Curveball: 81-83 MPH

Where could Pint end up in the draft?
Pint probably won’t be the first high school right-hander to go number one overall, since it looks like the Phillies will take A.J. Puk with that pick. The Braves at three look like the first viable option for Pint, but Atlanta may be leaning toward taking Kyle Lewis or Corey Ray. The next option for Pint would be the Rockies at four or the Brewers at five. I don’t see him slipping past the Padres at eight if both of those teams decide to pass on the righty.
