The Kansas City Royals have acquired outfielder Jonny Gomes from the Atlanta Braves, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports. Gomes was pulled from tonight’s game against the Marlins in the sixth inning. Atlanta will also send cash and will receive infielder Luis Valenzuela in return, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.
Gomes, 34, has struggled to get his bat going this season slashing .223/.327/.368 with seven homers and 22 RBIs in 226 plate appearances. The veteran outfielder is known for his presence on and off the field and should fit right in with the Royals.
