The San Francisco 49ers have signed first-round pick Arik Armstead, according to Adam Caplan of ESPN.com. The 6’7″ and 292 pound defensive end was taken with the 17th pick overall out of Oregon.
Armstead, 21, had his best season as a duck last year, recording 46 tackles and 2.5 sacks. The former basketball player improved every season, but is still very raw in a lot of areas and will need to keep improving if he wants to make an impact in the NFL.
Armstead could turn out to be a superstar for the 49ers or he could turn out to be a bust, it’s really up to him and how much he works. Most experts have compared him to Calais Campbell, which is a fare comparison.
