SEC Picks Week 11
I picked every game right, but one last week, with Florida shocking everyone by beating Georgia. Georgia will need Missouri to lose at least one more, for the Bulldogs to have a shot at making it to Atlanta.
This week can decide a lot around the country, but the game of the week in the SEC is Alabama at LSU. The last time that these two teams met in Baton Rouge it came down to the final minute, with the Crimson Tide winning 21-17. Alabama comes into the game with just one loss and controls their destiny in the west. LSU will need a lot of help to win the the west. The Tigers are the top ranked two loss team in the country and a win might be enough to put them in the top-10. The Crimson Tide comes into the game, with the second rated scoring defense in the country. LSU has the fourth ranked scoring defense. I expect this game to be low scoring, but most of you probably already knew that. Alabama offense has been surprisingly good this season and are averaging over 36 points a game. LSU offense is averaging around 32 points a game, but only scored 10 against Ole Miss two weeks ago. The Rebels are the top ranked defense in the country. The Tigers fumbled twice in the game, both times were in opponents territory. This game will be a close one and I wouldn’t be surprised to see only one touchdown in the game. I have Alabama winning a thriller late in the fourth quarter.
There isn’t many good games this week in the SEC, outside of the Alabama and LSU game. But another one I will be watching will be Georgia at Kentucky. Kentucky has lost three in a row and they played a tight game against the number one team in the country, Mississippi State. Last week the Wildcats played Missouri tough, but didn’t produce enough offense to win the game. Missouri’s defense held Kentucky to just 10 points. Georgia is coming off an awful loss to the declining Florida Gators. The Bulldogs are a loss away from being out of the east division race in my opinion. You have to wonder if Georgia will look ahead, with the Auburn game being next week. I think that Mark Richt will have his team ready and they will find a way to win this game, but it will be really close.
Texas A&M has lost three of the their last four games and their only win was a 21-16 victory over UL-Monroe. The Aggies have been proof that early season hype is just that. They have been awful against good teams and I don’t expect that to change. Auburn is coming off a big win over Ole Miss. The Tigers still need two losses from Mississippi State to have a shot at winning the west. Auburn will need to take care of business this week and I fully expect them to do that. I got Auburn winning big, but I do think that Texas A&M will score maybe two touchdowns.
