SEC Picks Week 12

SEC Picks Week 12

Alabama pulled out win against LSU this past week, but will they have a hangover this week.  Mississippi State, who is the number one team in the country comes to town this week.  The Bulldogs have struggled in their last two SEC games, they beat Arkansas by a touchdown and beat Kentucky by two.  They haven’t looked like the same team we saw earlier this season.  The Bulldogs haven’t beaten Alabama since 2007, which was Nick Saban first season as head coach at Alabama.  The Crimson Tide have the second rated scoring defense in the country and haven’t given up over 23 points this season.  Mississippi State has scored less 34 points only once this season, and that was two weeks ago against Arkansas.  The Bulldogs scored only 17 points in that game and they were trailing by three at half.  Alabama is a very different team at home and tend to blowout their opponents when they play at Bryant-Denny.  This will be a very good game and I expect Alabama to give up more than 23 points, but I think home field advantage will play a major role.  I got Alabama winning by three, 34-31.

Texas A&M is coming off a huge upset over Auburn, beating the Tigers 41-38.  This week the Aggies will have to play Missouri.  Missouri is currently leading the east, with three SEC games left.  The Tigers continue to be a major surprise, but they didn’t look to good in their lose against Georgia earlier this season.  The Bulldogs shutout Missouri, but Georgia has lost two SEC games and are now trailing in the division.  Missouri lives off their defense and if the can’t shutdown the Aggies offense, they have no shot in this game.  This game is up for grabs for me, which teams show up?  Will we see the Texas A&M offense we saw last week or will we see the the Aggies offense from the Alabama game?  Either way this game should be a good one.  I expect the Missouri defense to stop the Aggies offense and win a close game.

Todd Gurley is back from his suspension and that’s great news for Georgia, with the Bulldogs SEC title hopes on the line.  The Bulldogs will host #9 Auburn.  If Auburn loses they are pretty much eliminated from the west.  Both teams have a lot on the line, which makes this game very intriguing  and I expect the game to come down to the wire.  Georgia has won six of the last eight games against Auburn, but lost last season, after a last second miracle by Auburn.  The last four games have been tough for the Tigers, with two losses and two very close wins and this game will be no different.  I got Georgia winning, with Gurley coming back and the Bulldogs having the home field advantage.
