The build up to a big week always sucks and this week is no different. The SEC doesn’t have many marquee games, but the fans of the conference should still have an entertaining week. Tennessee will look to defeat Florida for the first time since 2004 and new Auburn quarterback Sean White will test the waters against Mississippi State.
Here are my SEC Week 4 Picks:
Saturday, September 26
6 Southern at #7 Georgia 52
Georgia should take it easy in this one with Alabama coming up next week, so no key players get injured. The Bulldogs should still win this game handily.
10 UCF at South Carolina 37
Steve Spurrier should go ahead and retire if the Gamecocks don’t pull off a win in this one.
41 #8 LSU at Syracuse 17
LSU got through their toughest stretch of their schedule until November unscathed and now the Tigers get to face Syracuse, Eastern Michigan and South Carolina before hosting Florida on October 17.
6 Louisiana Monroe at #12 Alabama 45
Eight years ago Louisiana Monroe came into Tuscaloosa and upset the Tide, but I don’t expect that to happen again. Alabama should have no issues blowing out the Warhawks.
31 Tennessee at Florida 28
Last year was the first time since 1955 that neither team was ranked in the Top 25 and that’s the same story this season. Also the Volunteers haven’t defeated the Gators since 2004. This matchup should be an interesting one with a great Florida defense going up against a high power Tennessee offense. This game should be a good one and could go either way, but I think the Vols are hungry this year and this is a win that Butch Jones desperately needs.
38 #14 Texas A&M vs Arkansas 24
Arkansas was expected to be a threat in the West, but after three weeks the Razorbacks look like a team with a ton of question marks. Texas A&M on the other hand has shocked a lot of people, but they still have questions to answer on the defensive side. I think the Razorbacks will come to play in this game, but the Aggies offense will be too much for Arkansas to handle.
10 Vanderbilt at #3 Ole Miss 45
Vanderbilt has a decent defense, but their offense looks worse than a bad movie. Ole Miss should win this one by 30 or more.
38 Mississippi State at Auburn 31
Auburn has not lived up to the hype and they look like the worst team in the SEC West at this point. They’ve looked so bad that coach Gus Malzahn has made a switch at quarterback, with Sean White starting the game for the Tigers over Jeremy Johnson. I expect this game to be a shootout with the Bulldogs closing it out late.
13 Missouri at Kentucky 10
Missouri has one of the better defenses in the country, but the problem with this team is the offense. This should be a very low scoring game with the better defense pulling out the win.
