TCU beats Iowa State, earns share of Big 12 Title

I would’ve never though before this season, that TCU would win the Big 12 title and be on their way to the playoffs. TCU beat Iowa State in impressive fashion 55-3, of course Iowa State had only two wins coming into the game, but beating anybody that bad is impressive.

TCU quarterback Trevor Boykin completed 30 of his 41 attempts for 460 yards and four touchdowns. Boykin also caught a 55 yard touchdown pass from senior receiver David Porter in the first quarter, it was Boykin first career touchdown catch. Aaron Green finished with 104 yards on 13 carries and a touchdown. Green also caught six passes for 67 yards and a touchdown. Junior receiver Josh Doctson caught nine passes for 151 yards and a touchdown.

TCU only scored 17 points in the first half and went into the locker room with a 17-3 lead. I thought this game would get out of hand and a hurry, but it took a big third quarter for TCU to pull away.

Iowa State fell to 2-10 and it was a very disappointing season for the Cyclones, but they did beat rival Iowa earlier this season. Iowa State didn’t win a conference game this season, and you have to wonder if a coaching change is in the works.

TCU improved to 11-1 on the season, and will have to await their playoff fate tomorrow.

TCU will still have to wait and see what happens in the Baylor game tonight, Baylor beat TCU 61-58 earlier this year, but the playoff committee still has TCU ahead of Baylor. The biggest issue with Baylor is their non-conference schedule, the Bears played Buffalo, while TCU played Minnesota, who’s a top Big Ten team.

If Baylor losses to Kansas State tonight then TCU will split the Big 12 title with Kansas State. If Baylor wins then TCU will split with Baylor, and the talk will start about who’s truly the better team. I think if Baylor wins their more deserving, but that’s just my opinion.
