Tennessee Volunteers guard Marcus Jackson could miss the whole 2015 season with an undisclosed injury, coach Butch Jones announced after practice on Tuesday.
“There’s no time table set,” Jones said. “It could be the season, it could be eight months, it could be nine months. It’s really based on how his surgery comes, and how his body performs.”
The fifth-year senior took an elective redshirt in 2013 and he could petition the NCAA for a one more season, but those are very rarely given out. This means that Jackson’s career is most likely over.
The injury is believed to be a biceps tear and it has been reported that he tore it over the weekend. Jackson started 12 games for the Vols last season and had started a total of 17 games in his career.
“If he has any opportunity of returning,” Jones said, “it will probably be towards the tail end of the season to a bowl game.”
