The Texas Rangers are going to call up top prospect Joey Gallo on Tuesday, according to General Manager Jon Daniels.
The 21-year-old third baseman is currently ranked third in the Fueled by Sports Top 50. Baseball America ranks Gallo sixth, while MLB.com ranks him ninth and Baseball Prospectus ranks him 15th.
Gallo had insane stats last year, hitting 42 homers and batting .271 in 537 plate appearances in Single-A plus Myrtle Beach and Double-A Frisco.
Daniels said that the move is designed to be short term and will last until Adrian Beltre comes off the disabled list. Beltre was placed on the 15-day DL with a sprain and laceration on his left thumb.
