Texas Rangers Designate Ross Ohlendorf for Assignment

The Texas Rangers have designated right-handed pitcher Ross Ohlendorf for assignment, according to the Rangers executive vice president of communications John Blake.  The team also called up righty Phil Klein from Triple-A Round Rock.

The 32-year-old Ohlendorf has pitched 7 2/3 innings for the Rangers this season, posting a 3.52 ERA out of the bullpen.  He also gave up two homers and walked four during that span.  It was the first time since 2013 that Austin, Texas native had seen action at the big league level.

Klein will be making his second stint in the majors this season.  The 26-year-old posted an 8.25 ERA in 12 innings earlier this season.  He struggled at keeping the ball in the park, giving up four homers during that short span.
