The Cincinnati Reds have claimed right hander Ryan Mattheus off of waivers from the Angels, the team announced.

Mattheus pitched just one inning for the Angels this season, walking one and striking out two. He was a dominant relief pitcher in 2011 and 2012 for the Washington Nationals, with a 2.84 ERA during those two seasons.
In 2013 Mattheus slammed his right hand into a locker, fracturing the hand and sending him to the disabled list.
