The Detroit Tigers have optioned Shane Greene to Triple-A Toledo, according to Catherine Slonksnis of Bless You Boys. The move was most likely made to clear a spot for reliever Ian Krol.
Greene, 26, has struggled lately after starting the season 3-0 with a 0.39 ERA. He has since gone 1-6 with a 8.60 ERA in 10 starts. He still has plenty of potential and the Tigers hope that a Triple-A stint will get him back on track.
The Tigers acquired Greene from the Yankees this offseason in a three-team trade that sent Didi Gregorius to the Yankees and Robbie Ray and Domingo Leyba to the Diamondbacks.
