Tyler Jay’s Info
Tyler Jay’s Scouting Report
Jay is a hard throwing southpaw reliever with a plus fastball and curveball. He has the ability to convert into a starter but looks like a closer at the big league level. His fastball has plenty of life to it even when he loses velocity. He has been the most dominant reliever in the Big Ten this season, allowing just four runs in 56 1/3 innings so far. He has given up just two homers in 118 innings as a college pitcher and has a strikeout rate of 10 per nine innings. Jay has added a changeup to his repertoire and it shows promise as long as he continues to work on it. He has very good command of all pitches which makes him a viable candidate for the closer position.
Fastball: 93-95 MPH

Jay’s best fit is either Chicago team, as the both draft in the top-10 in this year’s draft and with that being his home state. Jay might just need a year in the minors if a team decides to use him as a closer.
