White Sox Sign John Mayberry Jr.

The Chicago White Sox have signed outfielder/first baseman John Mayberry Jr. to a minor league deal, according to the team’s Triple-A affiliate.  Mayberry was released by the Mets in July, after the team acquired Kelly Johnson and Juan Uribe.  He signed a one-year, $1.45 million contract with New York during the offseason.

Mayberry, 31, struggled to every get going this season, hitting a slash of .164/.227/.318 with three homers and nine RBIs in 119 plate appearances.

He will be a perfect fit for the White Sox, as he hits left-handed pitching well and has plenty of power to bring to the table.
