Milwaukee Brewers reliever Will Smith has been suspended eight games for the foreign substance that was found on his arm in last night’s game against the Braves. Smith will appeal the suspension.
Smith was ejected after Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez pointed out a foreign substance to the umpires on Smith’s arm and asked the umpires to check it out. Head umpire Jim Joyce felt of the spot and threw Smith out of the game. Smith said that the substance was sunscreen and rosin that he forgot to wipe off in the bullpen.
