The New York Yankees have designated left-handed pitcher Chris Capuano for assignment, according to Jack Curry of the YES Network. The team has also promoted Caleb Cotham to take Capuano place on the active roster.
Capuano, 36, has struggled this season, posting a 6.97 ERA in 31 innings. He had a very bad outing yesterday, giving up five earned runs on three hits and five walks in just 2/3 of an inning against the Texas Rangers.
The Yankees signed the veteran to a one-year, $5 million deal in the offseason.
